Math, Science, and Technology initiative
Math, Science and Technology initiative is a collaboration aimed at helping kids succeed in the sciences-and to ultimately create, nurture and grow a pipeline of talent for the state's life sciences, healthcare and technology-related industries.
This program targets youth, grades 3-7, through an after-school curriculum that includes experimentation, demonstrations, and other engaging educational experiences. Unlike other models that endeavor to bring kids back into the fold of science, the purpose of this partnership is to "light a spark of interest" and cultivate that interest into a lifelong passion. By combining real-life experiences with industry speakers, hands-on learning, trips into the community, and volunteering, the students learn much more than science. They learn about the habits of scientific thinking.
This work is meant to introduce kids to careers in the sciences, but it is also an investment in the economic future of Massachusetts. To remain a robust, technology-rich state, and an international leader in scientific discovery and healthcare delivery, programs such as MSTi ensure we retain and grow the human capital necessary to remain on top.
